Happiness
A smile shone brightly on her face
Not a dollar in pocket
A ripped up shoelace
In a small house
She lived her day
Does wealth make you happy?
Who’s to say?
He worked in an office
Depressed and alone
His house was real big
He had a nice phone
His wallet was full
But he needed more
A new computer?
He only had four
Whatever he had
It was never enough
He could never be happy
No matter his stuff
You can’t buy happiness
Or a full life
It is a thing that does not have a price
Baby
She looked at me with innocent eyes
I waved hello
She seemed surprised
She didn’t judge me
Her eyes were wide
I wish it would last until she died
My lips curved gently into a smile
She looked at me, confused for a while
She opened her mouth and grinned real wide
And I could tell
She was on my side
Everyone starts off this way
Which way they turn
Is theirs to say
Spring
One by one, the pink buds bloom
Day and night
Sun and moon
Fat droplets plop down from the sky
Fresh icy rivers trickle by
A brown lifeless flower
Covered in snow
Sprouts a seed that begins to grow
The weeks pass by
A blue egg cracks
The sun shines bright
A young duck quacks
The earth is alive
The meadows so green
As you peer around
Spring can be seen
