  A New Beginning
Fingers gliding across the keys
The piece embedded in her brain from countless repetition
The tune filled the musty air
The notes flowing and twirling
Across the small room like a rippling stream
This was all she had left of a life she once had
The music stirred distant memories to life
Wispy gray hair rested on hunched shoulders
This was the end, she thought
Yet her faded green eyes seemed to light up
As the music danced melodically into her ears
The song was more than a melody
Her lips curved into a gentle smile
Joy and hope rang through her body
The notes unlocked a door that was closed long ago
She grew younger and younger each note
Pleasant memories unfolded that were lost and forgotten
What had seemed like the end
Was only a new beginning
